Alliventures Catskills Golf Getaway: Year Two

Updated: Oct 9

Another weekend filled with sunshine, laughter, and unforgettable moments on and off the course.

A PERFECT FALL ESCAPE

The second annual Alliventures Catskills Golf Getaway is officially in the books! This year, I had the pleasure of hosting seven amazing ladies for a long weekend in beautiful Windham, New York and it was everything I hoped it would be and more.

We returned to Wylder Windham, the perfect home base for our golf adventure with cozy rooms, incredible mountain views, and a relaxed vibe. This year, we added an extra night, giving the trip that true “getaway” feeling and more time to explore the area together.

KICKING THINGS OFF

After everyone arrived on Thursday, we gathered for welcome drinks and dinner at Babblers, the restaurant right on property. It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend with great food, good conversation, and a chance for everyone to get to know one another. Our group was a mix of some ladies who knew one another and others who were meeting for the first time, but by the end of the night, the conversation flowed easily and the laughs came naturally.

DAY ONE: FAIRWAYS, FOLIAGE AND A STORY TO REMEMBER

Friday morning started with sunshine and a little unexpected surprise. One of our golfers discovered something had spilled on her golf bag during her flight form Seattle, leaving it with a distinct fishy smell. Thankfully, the incredible staff at Christman’s Windham House stepped in to help — cleaning her clubs, lending her headcovers, and helping her purchase a new bag. It might not have been the souvenir she had in mind, but it’s one that will always remind her of this unforgettable trip!

With the crisis under control, it was time to tee off on a crisp but sunny morning. They call it the Mountain Course for a reason. Over 18 holes, we wound our way up, down, and around the hills, each shot bringing a new challenge and some pretty amazing views. The greens had a mind of their own, and reading putts on sloped mountain terrain proved tricky for all of us. Add in a few lightning-fast rolls and the occasional disappearing ball (thanks, fall leaves!), and we had our hands full.

Still, none of us let it get to us — it was too beautiful a day to care about scorecards. The company was great, the laughs were plenty, and the scenery was nothing short of spectacular. The 13th hole with views of Windham Mountain and its colorful trails and golden foliage was a picture-perfect reminder of why fall golf is so special.

After wrapping up our round, we had some time to unwind before dinner. A few of us headed to the Catskill Mountain Country Store, where we had the most delicious bowl of butternut squash soup and fresh apple cider donuts — the perfect fall treat. Some of us also took advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoyed a relaxing swim in the pool back at Wylder Windham.

That evening, we walked to Prominence Restaurant, a cozy Italian spot just minutes from the hotel. The food was excellent, though a few of us steered clear of any seafood dishes (it was still too soon!). Over dinner, we laughed about the morning’s mishaps, recapped the day’s round, and got to know one another beyond the fairways. By the end of the evening, the conversation was easy, the laughter was constant, and it already felt like a group of friends sharing stories rather than new acquaintances on a trip.

DAY TWO: ADVENTURES ON AND OFF THE COURSE

Saturday was our day to enjoy at our own pace before the afternoon tee time. Most of the ladies chose to explore Kaaterskill Falls — a stunning two-mile hike just a 30-minute drive from Wylder Windham. Once again, we were gifted with sunshine and perfect weather as we made our way to the waterfall’s overlook. A couple of the ladies even took on the extra trek down to the base of the falls for a closer look, while the rest of us headed back to Wylder to relax and recharge before our round at Colonial Country Club in nearby Tannersville.

There’s really only one way to describe Colonial Country Club and that would be quirky. And the ladies who played it would probably also agree it was a bit of the “Wild Wild West”. Still, we embraced the quirks, laughed through the surprises, and found plenty of charm in its character. Adding to the fun, there was a little friendly competition! Prizes for both the lowest net and lowest gross scores, with the winners to be announced at dinner.

That evening, we gathered at The Chicken Run, a local favorite known for its cozy, laid-back vibe and hearty comfort food. Fried chicken, pot pies, ribeyes, and warm apple cobbler hit the spot after a full day outdoors. Over dinner, we announced the winners of our friendly competition — Keri for lowest gross score and Lynne for lowest net. Congratulations again to both of you! The table was full of laughter, stories, and plenty of smiles and by the end of the night, everyone left happy and full.

DAY THREE: SUNSHINE AND SEND-OFFS

Sunday came too quickly, but we still had one last round left, this time at Windham Country Club, the beautiful course we’d admired all weekend from our porches at Wylder. It was another sunny day that felt more like July than October.

The course was in fantastic shape with nice fairways, smooth greens, and just enough challenge to keep things interesting. I ended the trip playing alongside women who started as strangers and left as friends — a perfect reflection of what Alliventures is all about.

After finishing up, we gathered one last time for a casual lunch at Mulligan’s Pub, sharing highlights from the trip. It was hard to believe how quickly the weekend had flown by, from the fishy mishap on day one to the sunshine, the mountain views, and the endless laughter in between.

LOOKING BACK

Year two of the Alliventures Catskills Golf Getaway proved that some things really do get better with time — a new mix of ladies, perfect weather, and another weekend full of connection, fun, and a shared love of golf. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Each of these trips reminds me why I started Alliventures in the first place: to bring amazing women together, share our love of golf, and make lasting connections through travel and adventure. Whether it’s a perfect shot, a shared joke, or a quiet moment surrounded by mountain views, these memories are what make Alliventures so special.

Here’s to another amazing year and to the next adventure!
